COURSE INFORMATION
This course will provide students with knowledge and understanding related to diversity and inclusion in education, including relevant policies and their theoretical rationales. It will also help them to develop policy and practice that promotes positive attitudes to diversity with the aim of full inclusion of diverse individuals in their own institutions. Students will have the opportunity to exchange and debate respective experiences within their professional organisations. Through critical reflection they will gain an insight into their own roles and responsibilities in the generation of inclusive and exclusive practices.

The course aims to bring together professionals reflecting a broad range of educational settings, that is, people who are concerned with various aspects of diversity and inclusion within formal and informal education. The course adopts a broad and ‘lifespan’ view of inclusion and will explore a wide range of aspects of diversity, including religion, culture, race, social class, and gender as well as learning difficulties and disability. A key feature of the course will be the practical application of critical insights to participants’ own professional settings and the exchange of professional practice.
